The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:Develop and implement the overall IT strategy in alignment with Busways' business objectivesLead the IT department, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and alignment across teamsProvide advisory services and updates to the Leadership Team on IT matters, including strategy, risk, and performanceFoster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and adherence to industry best practices to enhance the performance, scalability, and growth of the businessOversee the IT Infrastructure and Security team to ensure robust, secure, and scalable IT operationsEnsure compliance with IT security standards, including cyber security protocols, network access control, and system hardeningLead IT business continuity planning, including disaster recovery strategies and IT risk mitigation plansOversee in-house software development, ensuring timely delivery of quality applications such as Daily operations Rostering, Bus Ticket Sales etcManage the integration of internal systems and third-party solutions, ensuring seamless data flow and operational efficiencyEnsure adherence to the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and promote agile methodologies where applicableManage the procurement, implementation, and administration of major software systems for business reportingOversee the Qlik Champions ProgramEnsure successful delivery of IT projects by applying best-practice project management frameworksEnsure compliance with ISO 55001 IT Asset Management standardsAbout Us: Busways is the largest Australian-owned bus operator and the most experienced Australian bus specialist, delivering high-performing transport services since 1942. Our team of 2,800 operates 1,350 buses and 53 million journeys annually.What We’re Looking for in the Successful Candidate:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field10+ years of experience in IT project or business systems management, with at least 5 years managing multiple teams across a medium sized department of up to 15 team members with varying experience and skillsets in the fieldA dynamic leader skilled in identifying gaps and delivering innovative and impactful solutions, with a hands on approach who is willing to roll up their sleeves where needed and support their team Strong project and change management skills, including developing project plans, coordinating resources, and managing multiple projects and priorities. Experience with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and a proven track record of successful IT project deliveryExperience in managing ERP, HCM, and business-critical systems, including system lifecycle management (implementation, maintenance, and decommissioning).Proficient use of MS Office 365, SharePoint and MS TeamsAbility to guide and contribute to the software development teamFamiliarity with industry standards and frameworks such as ITIL, ISO 27001, and Agile methodologiesProven leadership and people management skills with a demonstrated ability to lead and mentor diverse technical teams, including cross-functional teams and unionised workforces In depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, software development, business systems management and business intelligence tools such as QlikSense, Tableau, Power BI, or SAP BI.
