Commercial Manager
Commercial Manager - Full Time
Pymble, NSW
This is a rare opportunity for an early-career commercial professional to step into a high-visibility role at one of NSW's leading transport operators. You'll work directly alongside the Chief Commercial Officer, getting genuine exposure to complex contracts, negotiations, real client relationships, and strategic decisions that shape how Busways operates across Australia. If you're sharp, commercially curious, and ready to grow fast - we'd like to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
This role sits at the commercial heart of Busways, working directly alongside the Chief Commercial Officer on the issues that matter most to our clients and our business. No two days look the same, but the core of the role is this: you'll be the person who helps us resolve complex commercial and contractual challenges - clearly, quickly, and with the relationships intact.
More specifically, you will:
- Lead strategic and practical management of commercial and contractual issues across Busways' operations, working directly with clients to reach timely, well-reasoned outcomes
- Build and maintain strong client relationships - you'll be a trusted point of contact who understands the client's perspective and advocates for solutions that work for both sides
- Prepare high-quality briefing notes, commercial summaries, and presentations that help senior leaders make confident, well-informed decisions
- Coordinate external legal counsel and manage legal matters end-to-end, keeping things moving and on track
- Support the review of tender documentation and contribute to Busways' response to new opportunities across Australia
- Contribute to procurement improvements and supplier management initiatives
- Play an active role in embedding AI and process improvements across the commercial function
- Take on research, analysis, and ad-hoc projects as the business requires - this is a role for someone who's energised by variety, not unsettled by it
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone early in their career who is sharp, commercially curious, and genuinely motivated to grow. You don't need to have done everything - but you do need to be the kind of person who figures things out, communicates with confidence, and builds trust quickly with clients and colleagues alike.
Specifically, you'll have:
- At least three years' experience in a commercial, legal, procurement, or contracts role - with demonstrated ability to work through complex issues and reach practical outcomes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills - you can translate complexity into clear, compelling documents and hold your own in a client conversation
- A genuine interest in how businesses grow and how client relationships are built and sustained over time
- High attention to detail in contract and document review, without losing sight of the commercial picture
- The ability to manage competing priorities without dropping the ball - this role moves fast
- Experience working with or coordinating external legal counsel (desirable but not essential)
- Exposure to the transport, government services, or infrastructure sectors (desirable but not essential - we'll back the right person regardless of industry background)
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in commerce, law, contract management, or a related discipline
